Singing in the rain

Before, during, and even now, after, the hike through Haleakala, I've been practicing mantras. Before I get into what this blog entry is about I will first state what I believe to be true: deep down inside, I truly think the best thing to always believe in is oneself, but it's interesting to try different approaches to many things. In spirituality, there are many mantras, sometimes I will chant a spiritual mantra, especially during yoga and meditation, and sometimes I will practice a mantra to clear the mind and bring me into the present. Today, I tried a mantra on something else living, water. So, the hike was very challenging as I've said before but as we pushed upwards and onwards during the pitch dark night I naturally practiced one of my mantras, which is the same one I tried on water today: "I love you". As evidenced by a doctor, when this is said to water, the molecules in water change and almost give the water a shine, a luster. When "I hate you" is said, the water changes molecules and is very "flat" so to say. My experiment today consisted of saying this to water as I watered a bed of soil recently planted with seeds. So as I held the water hose and I noticed a rainbow form, I kept repeating "I love you" to the water, I concentrated and focused on it, then I started saying "I hate you" and sure enough the rainbow disappeared but it reappeared in the exact same location when I started telling it "I love you". Three words in this instance can change so much of something living, something that has a life of it's own, think of the powerful effect these three words can have on someone instead of just something. Aloha!
