I leave my computer hanging around the community kitchen sometimes. It's an old mac from 2006. It still works, a little slower than before, but overall it functions as it should. I am very liberal with it and let others use it as well. So, to sum up, it's old, I could care less about it, but at this point I'm very free with letting others use it because of those reasons, so if it breaks or dies, well that would suck because my internet access would be limited (I honor that it still works and won't take that for granted). As I started using it today, a small thought entered my mind: If I am careless about this small little thing, how does this apply to a person or people that I care about? Do I worry about where they are, who they are with, what they are doing? Could I live knowing that loved ones are not within my secure boundaries or what I consider safe? YES! Of course, fuck materials, I will never have the same care, attention, or give a large part of myself to material objects as I do to people. Obviously, at this point I still love that my computer works and can do the basics and yes, if I do get a new one I will honor that it should be taken care of and cared for but never will it ever come between how I care about people. In general, we should honor the material objects we have because they have helped us in some way, shape, or form but never should we confuse our priorities and what comes first. Man came before any objects and no one should ever be put behind an object.
