Money seems to have lost it's place in today's society. At one point money was really only used to buy small necessities (shelter, food, clothes). The way money was earned was easier than now. Money also didn't have a face that is to say, today's millionaires and wealthy in society have a vengeful and cynical description to them, in their character, they are very ruthless to say the least. There also needs to be an understanding that there is no middle class, there is either poor or rich, the in between, that does not exist, it is a fallacy but it is created to keep us all separated. We earn money in such horrid ways today, even though we're not all on our knees earning our money or on the streets selling our bodies or drugs, we are still hooked onto something just as horrible: money.
There are many times I wish I didn't work anymore, ever again, at least not in the way we are made to all work today. When it comes down to it, I am paying, right now, for my past, my loans and my credit card debt but even after many are done paying their debts off they are still living for that dirty, nasty thing called money. Someone once made me think of the last place where a dollar bill could have been and it is not farfetched to think of those possibilities even though I would like to just grab my money and give it to the cashier, the truth is that money is as gross and even worse than a used crack pipe. Actually, in that sense it takes someone, a drug dealer in this case, to do a few drug sales to buy a crack pipe, let's just say, so after they get the crack pipe, they need to keep working, keep dealing in order to get their fix and get more money for more of the things they now want, now that they have money for more things, so now they get a house or some type of shelter, they can eat more regularly and buy food, and they can get material things too, so more clothes, a TV, a phone (a Crackberry in this case is very fitting), oh and a laptop with wifi so they can keep in touch with close-by drug dealers who share and symphatize their addiction. NOW why don't we think our drug is an addiction?
We all strive for our money, we treat it with a lot of respect, because hey we bust our butts at work for 8 hours or so at work (depends if you're a legal or illegal citizen), and we want our money for ourselves! We need it for our rent, our car, our cheap gas, our cable bill, our phone bills (plural), our clothes, our credit cards, our loans, oh oh oh and our new trends, you know, like going out for drinks, going dancing, going out to eat, yes, going places where our money is good, where it's needed. Yet, we're stuck at work, for 8 hours, yup, so some small simple math for everyone: 24 hours in a day, again depending on your background you might work around 8 hours a day, so right off the bat let's subtract that, now we're down to 16 hours, so considering most of us don't sleep too well but we should, let's just say we are all getting our 8 hours of needed sleep, at minimum, so now were down to 8 hours left out of the day, and we all use it productively right? Yeah of course we do, we drive or commute oh I don't about let's say 45-1 hour to work, each way, so let's just take 2 hours off of those 8 hours we have for ourselves, now we have uh oh, 6 hours left, but no! wait there's more, we spend, AMERICANS, the average American spends about 2 hours on the internet, so now that procrastination comes into the picture, shave off two more hours, boom, that's right folks, we're down to the last 4 hours of the day for ourselves, so what do we do with those 4 hours? Well if you're smart you work out, eat right, share time with loved ones, and give to yourself but what do we usually do? T.V., drink, work some more, drink and drive, text and sext, drink alone, smoke, drink with friends, complain, drink at the club, get sick, drink at the bar, oh and we drink water every now and then, just a little not too much though, ice? YES PLEASE!
To many I will come off as elitist, as someone who think they're much better and smarter than others, but to some I will have woken up a truth that lies within our society: we only work and slave away for money because as truthful and honest as work can seem, we only get that ecstasy out of it, that feeling of stability, that feeling of making it, but it only lasts until the next check comes in. Our whole life we have been made to believe that money is needed, that we need it for food, shelter, and clothing, that without it we cannot do much, so we live for it, we live to work and work to live yet we never stop to question or to think "Why?" and if you're working or living a good life, then there isn't time to stop and think, you have to keep working to keep that good life, but no one ever questions this. How did this all come to be? How did someone come up with the concept that it's easier to just give someone a piece of paper instead of sharing and bartering or working for something? Now all we do to get rid of problems is pull out our wallets, sometimes weapons, but usually money can solve everything right? Yes, unfortunately this is the truth. I don't speak from no knowing this is true, I speak from the knowledge and power of knowing this is true. I beg to be corrected if I am wrong, because for all I know, I could be living this lie I just explained.
